Science ministry opens Gyeongnam, Jeonbuk AX R&D bid to step up physical AI megaproject

South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency said they will accept applications through July 28 for the 2026 Gyeongnam and Jeonbuk AI transformation R&D programme. The physical AI project will run from 2026 to 2030 with 1.41 trillion won in total funding, split between Gyeongnam and Jeonbuk. The plan includes regional briefings and a selection process through August.

LG Electronics posts Q2 operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, up 147 percent year on year

LG Electronics said on Monday it posted second-quarter consolidated revenue of 23.83 trillion won and operating profit of 1.58 trillion won, both record highs for a second quarter. Revenue rose 14.9 percent and operating profit jumped 146.9 percent from a year earlier. First-half revenue totalled 47.56 trillion won and operating profit was 3.25 trillion won. The company cited stronger premium sales and higher-margin businesses.

iOS 27 beta 3 enables custom Siri voice settings

Apple has released iOS 27 developer beta 3 and activated the new Siri’s custom voice features. Controls for speaking speed and expressiveness, previously shown but disabled in settings, now work and allow five levels of adjustment for each of two Siri voices. The update also revises Apple Intelligence and Siri-related interface elements and may trigger re-downloads of related assets on some devices. Support varies by hardware.
