Financial sector overhauls security and consumer protection for AX era

As the financial sector accelerates an AI (AX) overhaul, digital risks such as hacking and voice phishing are emerging as key challenges. Financial authorities are moving to widen AI use by easing network separation rules, while calling for stronger internal controls and consumer protection to address security threats and increasingly sophisticated fraud. The Financial Services Commission held a meeting with major financial groups and related agencies to discuss responses, including upgrading a voice phishing AI platform.

NH NongHyup Bank is stepping up its shift to agentic AI, positioning AI as a core driver of change across financial services rather than a tool for simple automation. The bank said it declared its conversion vision at an event in central Seoul. It set out three execution strategies: enabling all staff to build and use AI agents on its NHAIS platform, expanding AI Full-Banking across operations, and strengthening links with the external AI ecosystem through acquisitions, partnerships and data centre investment.

Retriever raises pre-seed funding to speed development of AI-based security certification automation solution

Retriever, which provides the AI-based information security management system certification response automation solution Klarisk, said on June 9 it raised pre-seed funding from Mashup Ventures. The company said Klarisk uses AI to automate governance, risk and compliance work by analysing corporate data to identify compliance status and risks and suggest improvements. Retriever also secured up to 500 million won in R&D funds through the TIPS programme and is conducting technology verification with NH cooperative partners.
