Ruling party science committee holds policy talks on second-half priorities, AI budget, power and network law
Ruling party lawmakers on the National Assembly’s science, ICT, broadcasting and communications committee held closed-door policy talks on July 22 with relevant government agencies. Participants reviewed progress on existing projects for the second half, including space launch vehicles and nuclear power safety issues. Lawmakers also discussed budget constraints for large AI projects such as AI data centres and physical AI, power demand linked to AI expansion and the need to strengthen SMR research and investment.

Korea commission steps up response to false manipulated information, boosts platform accountability
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media and Communications Commission plans to upgrade its response system to false and manipulated information under a revised information network law. It will push to strengthen accountability for large platforms and seek to set up a transparency centre to support fact-checking. The commission also plans to introduce labelling for online AI-generated content and raise transparency around recommendation algorithms. It is reviewing measures to regulate youth SNS use and preparing pay-TV regulatory changes and other media policy steps.

LG Uplus publishes \'Information Security White Paper 2025\', unveils AI security capabilities
LG Uplus disclosed the results of its information security activities last year, including AI-based security monitoring and upgrades to its personal information protection system. The company said it published \'Information Security White Paper 2025\' on Wednesday and has released an annual white paper since 2023. It said it responded to more than 200,000 security events and cut average handling time by more than 90 percent from a year earlier, while expanding customer protection measures and strengthening governance.
