Young postdoctoral researchers to join companies in joint research on national strategic technologies
South Korea’s government will support young postdoctoral researchers and back industry-academia joint research in national strategic technology fields. The Ministry of Science and ICT said it selected 13 new consortia for its 2026 Strategic Technology Postdoctoral Industry-Academia Project. Companies will identify technology demand and form consortia with universities and state-funded research institutes. Selected consortia can receive up to 580 million won over two years, including personnel costs for postdoctoral researchers.

AI-era semiconductor R&D gathers in one place as MSIT holds results exchange meeting
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will hold a semiconductor programme results exchange meeting in Busan on July 13 to 14, it said on Saturday. The event will share outcomes in semiconductor R&D, workforce training and international cooperation supported by the ministry. About 800 people, including principal investigators for 125 projects and semiconductor-related companies and institutions, will attend. Nvidia Korea will deliver a keynote on AI factories.

Korea science ministry to support return of overseas Korean tech talent teams
South Korea will support the domestic commercialisation of 20 teams of overseas Korean technology talent working in super-gap fields including AI, advanced robots, bio and aerospace, the government said. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency held a K-TECH Pioneers orientation in Seoul on July 10. The programme aims to support the return and settlement of overseas Korean talent and is linked to a government policy on securing leading AI technologies and talent.
