Homegrown AI foundation model, GPU power and chatbot safety set to dominate 2026 parliamentary audit

South Korea\'s 2026 parliamentary audit is expected to focus on market results for a government-backed homegrown AI foundation model, plans to operate 260,000 high-performance GPUs and safety measures for AI chatbots, especially for children and teenagers. A National Assembly research report flagged issues including GPU power supply, overseas outflows of AI talent, AI literacy and youth protection. It said support has focused on technical development more than market entry.

NHN Cloud to showcase AI infrastructure capabilities in Gwangju

NHN Cloud is taking part in the 2026 Jeonnam-Gwangju Future Industry Expo at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju through Sept. 5, it said on Tuesday. The company is showcasing AI infrastructure technologies centred on its AI full-stack brand FactoryX, including GPU computing, data centres and the building and operation of GPU clusters. It cited experience running H100 GPUs at the Gwangju National AI Data Center and said its FactoryX Seoul data centre runs an AI cluster based on 7,656 B200 GPUs.

NHN unveils AI infrastructure-based ESG strategy to strengthen sustainable IT ecosystem

NHN published a regular report detailing its environmental, social and governance performance and mid- to long-term strategy amid AI-driven industrial change. The company released its 2025 Sustainability Report on its website, including a special page on creating new value through AI and examples such as NHN Cloud and the National AI Data Center. NHN also strengthened its disclosure system and reshaped its three key ESG strategy directions.
