OpenAI has unveiled a new image generation feature, ChatGPT Images 2.0, and a comparison test of complex crowd illustrations rated it higher than rival models. Software engineer Simon Willison ran a Where\'s Wally-style prompt to hide a raccoon holding an amateur radio in a crowd. Older OpenAI, Anthropic and Google-linked models struggled with detail or placement. ChatGPT Images 2.0 placed the raccoon naturally at 3840x2160. A single image cost about $0.4.

Google launches \'Nano Banana 2\' model, says faster and sharper
Google has unveiled its AI image-generation model \'Nano Banana 2\' (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image), TechCrunch reported on Feb. 26. The model can generate images in various aspect ratios from 512px up to 4K and can express up to five characters and 14 objects. It will be used as the default model across Gemini image modes and Flow, and as Google Search’s default image generator in 141 countries. API support is also expanding.

Google world model \'Project Genie\' announcement sends game stocks sliding
Google\'s announcement of \'Project Genie\', an AI model that generates 3D virtual environments, has rattled the game industry. Gigazine reported on Jan. 31 that shares of game companies including Take-Two, Roblox and Unity fell as much as 21 percent after the announcement, citing Reuters. The web app combines \'Nano Banana Pro\' and \'Gemini 3\', but has limits in accurately reproducing reality and in interaction within generated spaces.
