Google launches \'Nano Banana2 Lite\' at half the price, 2.7 times faster
Google has launched an image-generation model called Nano Banana2 Lite, targeting demand for lower cost and faster processing. The model can generate a 1K-resolution image for about $0.034 and is known to cost about half as much as Nano Banana2 at the same resolution while running 2.7 times faster. Officially named Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image, it is positioned as an entry-level replacement for the existing Nano Banana.

The company also expanded its generative media lineup and set video output pricing at $0.10 per second.

Microsoft unveils MAI-Image-2.5, ranks third in Arena text-to-image evaluation
Microsoft unveiled its in-house image-generation AI model MAI-Image-2.5. The company said the model ranked third globally in the text-to-image category of Arena, an external evaluation service that uses blinded human assessments. Microsoft said MAI-Image-2.5 improves image quality and text rendering over MAI-Image-2, and enhances reasoning around subjects, scene structure, lighting, scale and spatial relationships. The model is due to be available within 2 weeks on MAI Playground.
