Shinhan Investment Corp expands cooperation with Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam

Shinhan Investment Corp is expanding cooperation with financial institutions and capital-market related bodies in Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam as it accelerates the building of a global investment platform. The company said its CEO Lee Sun-hoon visited the three countries to discuss cooperation on foreigner integrated accounts, wealth management and investment banking. In Hong Kong it signed an MOU with CICC International. In Vietnam it met regulators and exchange officials to discuss market cooperation and investor exchanges.

Japan crypto rules set for major overhaul as FSA says digital finance policy goals met

Japan\'s Financial Services Agency has rated its digital finance policy as having met its goals, citing changes including an overhaul of cryptocurrency regulation and an expansion of stablecoin use. In a performance review covering July 2025 to June 2026, the agency gave its top grade to a category focused on responding strategically to societal changes driven by digitalisation. It highlighted shifting crypto oversight into a financial instruments framework and pursuing tax revisions.

21 global financial firms to issue stablecoin; former Ripple executive calls it a familiar scene

A former Ripple executive, Emi Yoshikawa (에미 요시카와), described plans by a 21-bank consortium led by Goldman Sachs and MUFG Bank to launch a dollar stablecoin as a familiar move by banks. She said on X after the announcement that it felt like deja vu. The project draws attention for favoring tighter in-house control over outside blockchain networks. MUFG is also pushing a yen stablecoin payment launch in Japan by March 2027.
