Snowflake Korea appoints Lee Yong-seok as new country manager
AI data cloud company Snowflake said on Aug. 18 it has appointed Lee Yong-seok as its new Korea country manager. Lee, who has more than 20 years of experience in enterprise software, will oversee Snowflake’s overall business in South Korea. Before joining Snowflake, he led digital transformation and go-to-market strategies at Google Cloud for six years starting in 2020. He previously worked at Microsoft Korea for 16 years.

KT accelerates AI-based distribution AX with NongHyup Agri Holdings and Microsoft
KT said on Aug. 18 it signed a memorandum of understanding with NongHyup Agri Holdings and Microsoft Korea to drive AI and cloud-based distribution AX innovation. The cooperation follows KT’s public cloud migration project for NongHyup Agri Holdings’ agricultural online mall, NH Sing Sing Mall, which moved systems, infrastructure, network and security to Microsoft Azure and began service in July. The partners plan AI-based customer service, data-driven marketing and agentic AI services.

Microsoft launches new AI PC Surface Pro and Laptop in South Korea
Microsoft said on Tuesday it will officially launch the new Surface Pro and Surface Laptop in South Korea and other markets. The company said the two new models use Qualcomm\'s Snapdragon X2 processor, allowing users to run on-device AI and use cloud-based AI. The Surface Pro is a 2-in-1 device with up to 15.5 hours of battery life and starts at 2,499,000 won. The Surface Laptop comes in 13.8-inch and 15-inch models, starting at 2,599,000 won.
