AI agent web traffic overtakes humans, raising \'dead internet\' theory question
Web traffic generated by AI agents has surpassed human traffic for the first time in the internet’s history, SiliconANGLE reported. Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince cited data from the company’s Cloudflare Radar internet tracking tool. Cloudflare said AI agent bots accounted for 57.4 percent of overall web traffic, while human traffic was 42.6 percent. Regional data showed wide variation, with bots leading in North America and humans still ahead in parts of Asia and other regions.

Cloudflare to cut over 1,100 jobs citing AI, not a cost-cutting move
Cloudflare will cut more than 1,100 jobs worldwide, The Register reported on May 8, citing the company’s AI adoption. CEO Matthew Prince and President and COO Michelle Zatlyn told staff in an email that the company decided to reduce its global workforce by over 1,100. They said AI usage rose more than 600 percent in the past three months. Prince said some roles will not be needed in the future and the move is not aimed at cutting costs.

Cloudflare unveils security network mesh for AI agents, aiming to move beyond VPN limits
Cloudflare has launched Cloudflare Mesh, a private networking service that integrates multicloud environments into a single security network, The New Stack reported. The service connects internal resources such as servers, databases and development tools to external systems without opening firewall ports, while encrypting all connection points to avoid exposing infrastructure on the public internet. Cloudflare said existing VPNs and manual tunnels are slow and risky for AI agent access needs.
