Nintendo\'s Virtual Boy returns 30 years after short-lived 1995 flop
Nintendo\'s worst-performing game console was the Virtual Boy released in 1995, not the GameCube or Wii U, and it disappeared in under a year with sales below 1 million units. The tabletop, binocular-style device used stereoscopic 3D but was uncomfortable and displayed only red graphics on a black background. Many users reported eye strain and headaches. Limited software also hurt. Nintendo has added Virtual Boy classics to Switch Online + Expansion Pack, requiring an accessory for 3D.

Nintendo unveils new Switch 2 bundles ahead of September price hike
Nintendo has unveiled two new Switch 2 bundles ahead of a console price increase effective Sept. 1. The Switch 2 will rise to $500 from $450, and the Switch 2 plus Mario Kart World bundle will be set at $550, adding a 90-day Nintendo Switch Online individual membership. A new Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle will launch on Oct. 22 for $530.

Smilegate Hope Studio supports children with rare diseases through speedrun fundraiser
Smilegate Hope Studio said on Monday it has completed the 2026 Super Speedrun Marathon Lite with Bada Games to support wish-granting for children with rare diseases. The three-day event was held offline at Smilegate Campus and livestreamed on game streaming service Chzzk, drawing 85,674 cumulative viewers. Hope Studio is running a linked donation campaign through Aug. 2, with all funds to be delivered to Make-A-Wish Korea without deductions for operating costs.
