YouTube Shorts overhauls algorithm to cut exposure for copy-and-paste videos

YouTube is overhauling its Shorts recommendation system to boost exposure for original content and curb recommendations for channels that re-upload other people’s videos with little or no creative work. The platform will prioritise more distinctive content when selecting videos for each user, using signals such as viewing history and reactions. YouTube said re-used videos may still be recommended if they add meaningful commentary, storytelling, perspective or substantive editing.

Fruit fly brain simulation used for bitcoin trading makes $1 profit on first day with $100

A digital simulation modeled on a fruit fly’s neural wiring was used in a bitcoin trading experiment and made $1 in profit after one day. Coinbase software engineer Alex Warmus funded the system, called Stonkfly, with $100 and linked it to cryptocurrency price data. The setup converts Coinbase BTC-USDC market data into images and generates trading signals, but a single day’s gain does not prove learning or repeatable performance.

Switch 2 edges Steam Deck on docked performance as OLED screen lifts Valve device

Nintendo\'s Switch 2 delivers graphics performance similar to Valve\'s Steam Deck in handheld mode but pulls ahead when docked, a comparison found. Switch 2\'s GPU rises to up to 3.7 TFLOPS when docked and supports features such as DLSS and some 4K output. Steam Deck does not gain performance when docked but has a stronger OLED display and relatively higher CPU clocks. Switch 2 costs $499, while Steam Deck models sell for $789 and $949.
