Iran considers bitcoin toll for tankers crossing Strait of Hormuz

Iran is considering charging tankers a toll in cryptocurrency to transit the Strait of Hormuz, requiring prior approval, cargo screening and digital-asset payment. A representative of exporters said tankers would submit cargo details by email and pay $1 per barrel, while empty tankers could pass without restrictions. Bitcoin briefly rose above $72,000. Iran later said it would fully halt tanker crossings and warned ships could face attack.
