LG Uplus, Hyundai Elevator to upgrade AI elevator monitoring
LG Uplus will work with Hyundai Elevator to enhance an AI-based remote monitoring system for elevators. The companies signed an agreement on Sept. 15 in Seoul to cooperate on wireless services and AI and security for a smart remote monitoring platform. They plan to apply LG Uplus machine-to-machine services to communications between elevators and Hyundai Elevator’s MIRI platform and to test an emergency call model using AI voice recognition.

Korea closes call for cybersecurity AI foundation model project; SKT, Naver Cloud in two-horse race
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Aug. 26 that two consortia led by SK Telecom and Naver Cloud submitted proposals for a project to develop a cybersecurity-specialised AI foundation model. The SKT consortium proposed developing a broad set of models and verifying agentic security services based on the domestic cyber threat environment. The Naver Cloud consortium proposed developing a model to internalise national cybersecurity capabilities. The ministry plans to announce the selected team in early September.

Franklin Templeton says stocks alone not enough in AI era, altcoins needed
Asset manager Franklin Templeton said that as agentic artificial intelligence spreads, stocks alone may not capture all investment opportunities and holding cryptocurrencies and altcoins may be necessary. Its digital assets and innovation head Sandy Kaul said rising on-chain transactions by autonomous AI agents could make tokens issued by related networks a core portfolio asset. She argued existing card and bank rails are ill-suited for machine-to-machine micropayments and cited projections for rapid market growth and adoption.
