Kakao open-sources two Kanana-2 embedding models for personalised AI

Kakao has open-sourced 2 embedding models that can be used for personalised AI agents and semantic search. The company released the 3 billion-parameter Kanana-2-3b-Embedding and the 1.3 billion-parameter Kanana-2-1.3b-Embedding on Hugging Face. Kakao said it used training based on its Kanana-2-SLM and applied knowledge distillation and MRL to let developers adjust embedding vector size. It also said commercial use is allowed under the Kanana Open License.

AI scam calls: study finds 1 in 6 U.S. adults may fall for them

A study found that about 1 in 6 U.S. adults could comply with voice phishing calls made with AI-generated voices. Researchers from Harvard University, Meta and others ran experiments with 4,100 U.S. adults, comparing six AI voice models with real human voices across five scam scenarios. Emotional, relationship-based stories proved more persuasive than call-centre impersonation. The study also warned that AI could lower costs and enable automated mass scam calls.

Meta unveils Muse Spark 1.3, claims performance rivals Anthropic and OpenAI models

Meta unveiled Muse Spark 1.3, its most powerful large language model to date, and said it has narrowed the performance gap with major AI companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The company began providing the model through the Meta Model API on a paid basis for developers.
