Ethereum withdrawals set to speed up, but new validators may wait three weeks for rewards
Ethereum is considering changes to improve validator withdrawals, but new validators may have to wait about three weeks before earning staking rewards. As of Oct. 15, the staking entry queue totaled 1,282,776 ETH, implying a wait of 22 days and 6 hours, CryptoSlate reported. The EIP-8061 proposal would keep the entry limit but link withdrawal capacity to active staking and add capacity for validator consolidation. The plan remains under review and has no confirmed mainnet date.

Lido adds direct Ethereum staking across four layer2 networks
Liquid staking protocol Lido added a feature to its staking interface that lets users stake Ethereum on four layer2 networks: Arbitrum, Base, Linea and Optimism. Users receive wstETH on the network they already use without moving assets to Ethereum mainnet and back. The service is provided based on Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol. Deposited ETH is swapped via a dedicated liquidity pool and is ultimately staked on Ethereum mainnet.

VanEck withdraws Lido token ETF filing, halts brokerage-account investment plan
VanEck has moved to withdraw its application to register an exchange-traded fund that would directly hold Lido\'s liquid staking token stETH. The fund was designed to let investors gain exposure to stETH through brokerage accounts, but the registration had not taken effect. The filing did not go into force and the withdrawal process began. The move leaves uncertain the timeline for an ETF that directly holds stETH.
