DB Financial Investment will take part as title sponsor of the Ethereum conference "Ethereum Korea One: Genesis" to be held in Seoul in September. The event will discuss the status of token securities (STO) business initiatives by domestic and overseas financial institutions ahead of the institutionalisation of token securities in South Korea, and ways to use Ethereum-based on-chain infrastructure.

The Ethereum Korea Consortium said on Sunday it will hold "Ethereum Korea One: Genesis" in Seoul on Sept. 28 to 29. DB Financial Investment will serve as title sponsor, and Altus, Optimum, DSRV, Lambda256 and Ethereum layer 2 Optimism will participate as sponsors.

The event follows Ethereum Korea One held in April. At the previous event, Vitalik Buterin, an Ethereum co-founder, delivered a video congratulatory message, and more than 350 people pre-registered for a single session lasting 3 hours.

Keynote speakers include Joseph Lubin, an Ethereum co-founder and founder of Consensys, Tom Lee, chairman of Bitmine, Joseph Shalom, chief executive of Sharplink, and Bongseok Kwak, chief executive of DB Financial Investment.

On the first day, the event will focus on the STO business plans of regulated financial firms in South Korea and overseas ahead of the planned introduction of the domestic token securities regime in 2027.

Participants include Chetan Karkhanis, senior vice president at Franklin Templeton, Min Lin, head of global business development at Ondo Finance, and Adrian Lee, head of Asia-Pacific policy at the Ethereum Foundation.

Representatives from overseas companies including Ethereum Institutional, Securitize, Lido and Offchain Labs, as well as domestic securities firms including DB Financial Investment, KB Securities, Hanwha Investment & Securities and Kyobo Securities, will also attend to share the status of token securities and on-chain finance businesses.

On the second day, the Ethereum Foundation, Uniswap and StarkWare, as well as labs at Seoul National University, Yonsei University and POSTECH, will take part in developer- and research-focused discussions.

Members of the Ethereum Korea Consortium have increased to 13 companies from 10 at its launch in April. Altus, Optimum and Lambda256, Dunamu's blockchain technology unit, have newly joined.

Ju-sik Lee (이주식), head of the digital asset business team at DB Financial Investment, said the firm joined because it judged the event would enable communication with institutions in South Korea and overseas using Ethereum as it prepares overseas business with Ethereum layer 2 Optimism. He said the STO business will be pursued in line with domestic guidelines, and that it will also be an opportunity to continue cooperation overseas with the Optimism Foundation.
