A legal framework to support the establishment of artificial intelligence (AI) data centres has been put in place after a special act passed the National Assembly plenary session on May 7. It allows designation of special zones outside the Seoul metropolitan area and prioritises support for infrastructure costs. It also introduces consolidated permitting and certain power-related exemptions.
