Lablup wins presidential citation at 2026 government awards for information and communications merit
Lablup said it won a presidential citation at the 2026 government awards for information and communications merit at a ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT in Seoul. The award recognises organisations and individuals that contributed to the development of the information and communications industry. Lablup said it was recognised for contributions to AI development and dissemination and to creating quality jobs through its proprietary AI infrastructure operations platform technology.

Lablup to unveil personal AI platform Backend.AI:GO at MWC Barcelona 2026
AI infrastructure company Lablup Inc. will attend MWC Barcelona 2026 at Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from March 2 to 5 and introduce its personal AI platform Backend.AI:GO to the European market. During the event it will hold a ceremony to sign a partnership with UK AI infrastructure firm Boston Limited. The company says the free desktop app runs small language models on a PC offline and can switch to clusters or cloud APIs when needed.

Upstage unveils in-house LLM Solar Open 100B as open source
Upstage said on Tuesday it has released its self-developed large language model, Solar Open 100B, as open source. It called the model the first outcome of a government project to build an independent AI foundation model. The company said Solar Open, trained from scratch, exceeded DeepSeek R1 on major benchmarks in Korean, English and Japanese while being 15 percent of its size. Upstage also cited efficiency gains via an MoE design and GPU optimisation.
