Lablup joins Linux Foundation's Agentic AI Foundation as silver member

Lablup said on May 18 it will join the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF), an organisation under the Linux Foundation, as a silver member.

AAIF is an open-source foundation for agentic AI that was jointly established in December 2025 by Anthropic, Block and OpenAI and is operated by the Linux Foundation. It develops and manages open standards and protocols so AI agents can interoperate regardless of platform and vendor.

As of April 2026, more than 170 members, including AWS, Google, Microsoft, Bloomberg and Cloudflare, are participating in AAIF. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) donated by Anthropic is one of the major projects managed by AAIF.

Through the membership, Lablup plans to participate in adopting the MCP standard, contributing agent infrastructure technologies and expanding the domestic open agent ecosystem. Based on its experience developing Backend.AI, an orchestration platform for AI workloads across heterogeneous GPU and NPU clusters, and operational know-how built across infrastructure environments of various sizes including large corporations, finance and research institutions, it expects to continue cooperating with the AAIF community at the agentic AI workload infrastructure layer.

Lablup CEO Jeong-gyu Shin (신정규) said, "Lablup is rooted in open source." He said, "We will contribute infrastructure technology with the AAIF community so agentic AI can develop on open standards without being trapped in a closed ecosystem."
