Korea closes call for cybersecurity AI foundation model project; SKT, Naver Cloud in two-horse race
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on Aug. 26 that two consortia led by SK Telecom and Naver Cloud submitted proposals for a project to develop a cybersecurity-specialised AI foundation model. The SKT consortium proposed developing a broad set of models and verifying agentic security services based on the domestic cyber threat environment. The Naver Cloud consortium proposed developing a model to internalise national cybersecurity capabilities. The ministry plans to announce the selected team in early September.

SKT steps up scale-up of proprietary AI to multimodal and agents
SK Telecom has passed a second-stage evaluation of the government’s project for a proprietary AI foundation model. The assessment reflected industrial applicability and impact on South Korea’s AI ecosystem. SKT plans to expand its technology scope in the next evaluation to models with up to trillion-level parameters and to multimodal and AI agent areas. It has developed the A.X K1 and expanded to A.X K2, and it is building derived vision and speech models and applying them in manufacturing and defence.

LG CNS steps up AX business based on Anthropic\'s Claude after OpenAI
LG CNS said on Tuesday it signed a contract with global AI company Anthropic to introduce Claude Enterprise under an integrated deal applicable to all LG Group affiliates. It will open Claude to employees to pursue AI-driven productivity gains across work, including development. LG CNS plans to support the full process from deployment to use for LG affiliates and external companies to expand its AX business.
