Stablecoin interest ban raises questions over workaround rewards

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has finalised a GENIUS Act rule that bans stablecoin issuers from paying interest or returns solely for holding coins. The rule defines stablecoins as payment instruments backed one-to-one by real assets and takes effect on Jan. 18, 2027. The OCC dropped draft language that would have blocked rewards by exchanges and fintech firms, but plans case-by-case reviews to prevent disguised issuer interest.

Uphold starts trading Evernode\'s XRPN stock, enabling exposure without direct XRP purchases

Uphold has begun trading XRPN, the stock of Evernode Holdings, a listed company that holds large amounts of XRP. Users can buy fractional shares through Uphold\'s mobile app. Uphold described XRPN as listed equity backed by a corporate XRP treasury. Securities services are provided through Uphold Securities, with custody handled by Apex Clearing. XRPN offers exposure to the XRP ecosystem but represents equity in Evernode, not XRP itself.

Enlighten to showcase RE100 solutions at Korea ESG Green Expo 2026

Energy IT platform company Enlighten will take part in the 2026 Korea ESG Green Expo and showcase company-tailored solutions to support RE100 implementation. It plans to present measures spanning renewable power procurement, electricity demand management and integrated operation of distributed energy resources. Its offerings include RE100 transactions using power purchase agreements and renewable energy certificates, solar subscriptions and installations, demand response and virtual power plants. The company will also run one-on-one RE100 consulting for corporate customers during the event.
