Government pushes worker presumption rule, platform industry on alert
The government is pushing to revise the Labour Standards Act to introduce a “worker presumption rule” from May 1, prompting concern across platform industries. The change would shift the burden of proof from special employment workers and freelancers to businesses, which would have to show independent operations and lack of direction or supervision. Delivery platforms foresee higher labour costs and reduced hiring. Content and staffing intermediaries also expect disputes over proof and legal responsibility.

Kmong Enterprise introduces AI project registration feature
South Korean freelance platform Kmong said on Jan. 19 it introduced an \'AI project registration (AI Project Brief)\' feature to its B2B service, Kmong Enterprise. The company said the feature aims to lower barriers for customers new to outsourcing or with limited commissioning experience. It automatically generates a draft request based on a short prompt, estimates an appropriate budget and expected duration using similar project data, and recommends suitable experts by analyzing user-AI conversations.
