KT to work with Seoul National University, KAIST on core AI technologies for service use
KT is sharing the results of joint research on core AI technologies with Seoul National University and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and plans to apply them to its services. KT said it held a final results workshop at its KT Umyeon R&D Center in Seoul, with about 50 researchers attending. The company plans follow-up tasks and will expand cooperation to agentic AI, responsible AI, physical AI and token efficiency.

Laws needed to pre-design AI shift, call to upgrade systems and infrastructure for AGI
Choi Kyung-jin of Gachon University said unclear legal frameworks should be avoided and that institutions will decide the outcome of the AI transition, calling for system design suited to the shift. At a science and AI strategy meeting on Aug. 27, speakers urged urgent preparations for the AGI era, including expanding computing infrastructure, increasing post-training data investment and standardising medical data. Deputy Prime Minister Bae Kyung-hoon said preparations must begin now.

KAIST hosts Discovery Loop\'s Jeff Dean, says human-AI collaboration delivers better results
Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) said it held a special lecture at the Seoul AI Hub on Aug. 13 with Jeff Dean of Discovery Loop, co-founder and CEO, co-hosted with a national AI research hub. Dean introduced AI’s development over the past 15 years and future research directions, saying more computing, data and larger models improved performance. He said human-AI collaboration can achieve better results than either alone.
