Nvidia to set up AI joint research institute at KAIST
KAIST and Nvidia will build a $300 million joint research framework to develop agentic AI technology tailored to the Korean language and domestic industrial environments. KAIST said it will establish the Nvidia-KAIST AI Joint Research Institute at the Seoul campus of its Kim Jaechul Graduate School of AI to pursue joint research on key next-generation AI technologies. The partners will combine Nvidia’s full-stack AI technology, open models and cloud computing infrastructure with KAIST researchers.

MSIT steps up staff AI skills with training results event
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT is moving to strengthen internal capabilities to apply artificial intelligence to frontline national research and development administration. The ministry held an AI competency training results presentation event on Monday at the Government Complex Sejong and shared outcomes from 10 weeks of training. Officials and staff attended. The programme combined lectures and hands-on practice and produced AI tools aimed at policy work and R&D administrative efficiency.

AI era will not end people’s roles, government launches future strategy council
South Korea launched a Science and Technology-AI Future Strategy Council on May 13 in Seoul to help develop mid- to long-term government strategy agendas and policy direction in response to social change driven by advances in science and artificial intelligence. Experts said AI cannot replace all human roles and urged monitoring the quality of AI use at a national level to prevent capability erosion and widening gaps. The government plans quarterly meetings and follow-up research.
