Cho Dae-geun (조대근) of Sogang University said the proposal would scrap the EECC and unify regulation, redefining spectrum as a strategic public asset and extending licence terms to at least 40 years. He also described an approach to network fee disputes that involves regulators but ultimately leaves outcomes to the market.

South Korea is stepping up efforts to prevent damage from illegal spam by expanding pre-emptive blocking of invalid numbers and strengthening sender verification, aiming to stop spam at the sending stage. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Commission held a joint public-private meeting in Seoul on April 14 with related agencies and industry participants. Measures include improvements to block overseas spam, tighter identity checks for bulk senders and an AI-based joint response platform.
