KOSPI rebounds above 8,000 after one day, buy sidecar triggered
South Korea\'s KOSPI recovered above the 8,000 mark a day after a sharp fall, ending up 440.25 points, or 5.76 percent, at 8,088.34. The Korea Exchange triggered a buy sidecar in the main board market after mini KOSPI200 futures rose 5.10 percent. Institutions were net buyers, while individuals and foreigners sold. The won strengthened against the dollar.

South Korea\'s benchmark KOSPI closed down more than 7 percent on Thursday as heavy losses in major semiconductor stocks weighed on the market. A sell-side sidecar was triggered in the main board early in the session, and another was activated on the Kosdaq in the afternoon, widening volatility. Individuals were net buyers while foreign investors and institutions sold. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell sharply. The won weakened against the dollar.

Kosdaq triggers sell sidecar for 17th time this year
A sell sidecar was triggered in the South Korean Kosdaq market on Wednesday as declines deepened following a fall in the main KOSPI market. The Korea Exchange said the mechanism was activated at 12:47 p.m. This was the 17th sidecar activation in the Kosdaq market this year, including 11 buy sidecars and 6 sell sidecars. Program trading sell orders were suspended for five minutes and then automatically lifted.
