Broadcasting media commission to support TV ad production costs for two small firms
South Korea\'s Broadcasting Media Communications Commission said on Thursday it selected two small and medium-sized companies to receive support for TV broadcast advertising under its second public call for 2026. The round drew 37 applicants. The selected firms will receive up to 45 million won, covering up to 50 percent of TV ad production costs, and can also receive tailored consulting on planning, production and use.

Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission moves to build K-FAST ecosystem to open 47 trillion won overseas market
South Korea\'s Broadcast Media Telecommunications Commission is moving to build an advertising-supported free streaming TV (FAST) ecosystem, saying the media industry needs to develop strategies around global distribution platforms such as FAST as advertising revenue declines. At a corporate meeting in Suwon on June 4, the commission heard views from platform operators, broadcasters, channel operators and technology firms. The global FAST market is forecast to grow to 47 trillion won by 2030 from 18 trillion won in 2025.

Assembly science committee approves bill to set up Korea Broadcast Media Telecom Promotion Agency
South Korea’s National Assembly Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee approved amendments to create the Korea Broadcast Media Telecom Promotion Agency under a broadcast media telecom commission. The bill would merge the Korea Broadcast Advertising Corp and the Viewer Media Foundation, dissolving both on launch, with a planned 2027 start. The proposal faces hurdles including opposition party resistance, disputes over employment succession and business scope, and pushback from related ministries and organisations.
