Ethereum, Solana mull supply cuts but demand seen as key price driver
Ethereum and Solana are considering ways to reduce token issuance, but demand is likely to be the key factor shaping prices, an analysis said. Galaxy Research said discussion is under way on revamping issuance structures on both networks, but where tokens go is determined by demand. Ethereum is weighing an EIP proposal to cut validator rewards as staking rises, while Solana is advancing governance proposals to accelerate disinflation and burn more fees.

Sharplink CEO opposes EIP-8363, says it would remove Ethereum key strength
Sharplink CEO Joseph Chalom opposed a draft Ethereum improvement proposal, EIP-8363, that would gradually burn validator rewards to cap the amount of staked ether, The Block reported on Thursday. Chalom wrote on X that the draft could shake decentralised finance and erase a key ETH strength compared with bitcoin. The proposal would raise the share of burned consensus-layer rewards as staking rises, reaching a 100 percent burn rate when about 50 percent of ETH supply is staked.

Ethereum staking reward cut plan EIP-8363 sparks fierce debate
Ethereum\'s EIP-8363 proposal to gradually reduce staking rewards is facing strong pushback over concerns it could hurt DeFi, decentralisation and institutional demand. The plan would lower rewards as more ether is staked and cut protocol issuance to zero if 50 percent of total supply is staked. Proponents say Ethereum already has sufficient security and non-stakers bear dilution. Opponents say staking may slow naturally and the issue is not large enough to change issuance policy.
