Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake (저스틴 드레이크) released a draft technical roadmap, the "Strawmap", proposed by the foundation's protocol team.
The document was written to present a comprehensive direction for Ethereum layer 1 protocol upgrades for researchers and developers. It is a proposal for discussion rather than a final roadmap, and it summarises the foundation team's direction for development across the Ethereum ecosystem.
The Strawmap proposes a six-month upgrade cycle under a plan for about 7 forks through 2029.
Its long-term goals include a fast layer 1 with finality in seconds, throughput of 1 gigagas per second, a high-throughput layer 2 based on data availability sampling, a quantum-resistant cryptography system, and native private transfer functionality.
