Socar launches pilot service bundling parking and charging for EV users

Socar said it has signed an agreement with Softberry to pilot a linked parking and charging service in some areas of Seoul for about three months. The companies decided to bundle the two services, citing their close connection in EV users’ daily routines. Everyone’s Parking Lot will offer an EV-only product that adds Softberry’s EV Pay charging benefits to monthly parking passes. Users can access 600 kWh per month after registration and card issuance.

Children unleash imagination with AI as science ministry holds finals of 2026 AI creation contest

South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT on Friday held the finals of the 2026 AI Creation Contest at the Kakao AI Campus. Launched for the first time this year, the contest is a key programme under the National AI Competition and targets young children and elementary school students. Participants create fairy tales, children’s songs and webtoons using AI tools provided by four domestic companies.

Audit 2026: Financial holding companies face \'shadow executive\' row; bank rate and security weaknesses also flagged

At a comprehensive parliamentary audit of the financial sector, lawmakers raised issues spanning governance, loan rate-setting, security and consumer protection. They flagged practices in which retired executives stay on as advisers, and concerns over former Financial Supervisory Service officials taking jobs in financial holding companies. Some banks were criticised for raising add-on rates and cutting preferential rates. Low compensation under a voice phishing scheme and vulnerabilities in bank security software were also questioned, along with a lack of long-term fixed-rate mortgages.
