Sony ends PS5 optical disc production as downloads dominate
Sony Interactive Entertainment will end production of 4K UHD Blu-ray discs for the PlayStation 5, saying digital media demand now far exceeds physical discs. Japan ITmedia reported the most direct reason was the overwhelming share of download sales. Sony Group data showed downloads accounted for 78 percent of annual game sales in fiscal 2025 and hit a record 85 percent in January to March 2026, while disc purchases were 15 percent.

Mobigen says dynamic ontology key to solving AI slop, launches Graphio 2.0
Mobigen held its 2026 Media Day on July 2 and unveiled Graphio 2.0, a dynamic ontology-based data and AI app platform. The company said the platform connects diverse corporate data into a single work environment and helps AI understand and use data. Chief Executive Kim Tae-su (김태수) said competitiveness in the AI era depends on effective use of trusted data, not AI models themselves. Mobigen said it is expanding vertically in defence, energy and plant engineering, AI operating systems and the public sector.
