Kakao Mobility, Renault Korea to jointly develop ADAS maps
Kakao Mobility said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Renault Korea to cooperate on vehicle software technology for a “next-generation vehicle experience.” The partners will apply Kakao Mobility’s high-precision maps, software technology and in-vehicle service expertise to Renault Korea’s vehicle platform. They will jointly develop and verify map data and software for ADAS and advance IVI by linking services such as navigation, parking and charging.

Robotaxis face hurdles in replacing private cars: costs, wait times and empty runs
Robotaxis could reshape taxi and ride-hailing markets but are unlikely to replace private cars in the United States, an analysis said. Even if autonomous driving removes drivers, robotaxis may not become much cheaper once operating costs, wait times and empty runs are factored in. Commenters cited estimates of private-car costs at about $0.75 to $1 per mile and said robotaxis would need to fall further to change consumer behavior.

SKT unveils next-generation in-car AI agent A.Dot Auto
SK Telecom said on Jan. 14 it has applied its next-generation in-car AI agent, A.Dot Auto, to Renault Korea’s new Filante vehicle. The company described it as an intelligent agent that recognises driving patterns and driving conditions and is embedded in the in-vehicle infotainment system. It supports voice control for infotainment services and in-car functions and links with the A.Dot mobile app. SKT plans to expand it to other car brands.
