Capital market rules tighten as MyData programme expands

South Korean financial authorities are accelerating efforts to tighten capital market discipline, pledging tougher action against illegal practices aimed at avoiding delisting and pushing for timely exits of so-called zombie firms. Korea Exchange will introduce rules from July to delist penny stocks and raise standards for dealing with weak companies. Regulators also plan to curb duplicate listings and tighten reviews. Some decisions, including Hong Kong ELS fines and Samsung Securities approvals, remain delayed.

IBK Industrial Bank appoints Yoo Il-gwang as executive director

IBK Industrial Bank said on April 20 it appointed Yoo Il-gwang (유일광), a former vice president, as its new executive director and senior vice president. The company said Yoo has worked at the bank since 1994, holding key posts including head of the Office of Ethical Management, head of the Management Support Group and head of the Retail Banking Group. It said he advanced policies to ease financial cost burdens and strengthened staff capabilities and organisational vitality.

IBK Industrial Bank of Korea signs agreement with KOTRA to boost export support for SMEs

IBK Industrial Bank of Korea said on Monday it signed a business agreement with KOTRA to support small and medium-sized companies seeking to develop overseas markets. The agreement aims to help SMEs diversify export markets in response to changes in the global trade environment, including U.S.-China trade conflict and supply-chain restructuring. The two organisations will cooperate on tailored support for overseas expansion, resolving export-related difficulties and identifying success cases.
