Xpeng commercialises smart cockpit, autonomous driving licensing, contrasted with Tesla

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng is expanding a licensing business to sell its autonomous driving and smart cockpit technology to external customers, beyond its existing cooperation with Volkswagen, an EV outlet reported. It has set up a commercialisation team and is seeking contracts covering vehicle electronics architecture, smart cockpit systems, its Turing AI chip, driver-assistance systems and autonomous driving software, as well as robotaxi and humanoid robot technology. Its service revenue rose in the second quarter.

Warren pushes crypto regulation despite opposing Clarity bill

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, a noted critic of cryptocurrencies, said she opposes the Clarity bill as drafted but still intends to pursue crypto regulation legislation. She called for provisions covering officials’ crypto investments, national security, consumer protection and stronger measures against illicit funds. The Senate failed to advance the bill on a 49-60 procedural vote. Warren said she would be willing to lead discussions as chair.

Sony Korea has launched its first fisheye zoom G lens, the FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G, in South Korea. The lens covers a zoom range from 8mm circular fisheye to 14mm diagonal fisheye with a 180-degree angle of view. It uses ED and aspherical elements to suppress aberrations and maintains resolution across the range. It weighs about 314 grams and supports close-up shooting. The price is 2,449,000 won.
