[DigitalToday reporter Hyunwoo Choo] Cozysand, an alarm app that only turns off after users complete missions, has been released for iOS and Android. A key feature is that it detects when users turn off an alarm and fall back asleep, and rings again.
There are 21 mission types for turning off alarms, including walking, math, rhythm games, squats and making facial expressions in front of a camera, with 10 available for free. The walking mission adds a walking-rhythm assessment to step detection, so it cannot be cleared by shaking a phone in bed.
If users attach a to-do item such as "go to the gym" to an alarm, the to-do is checked the moment the mission is completed. On Android, users can also set it as a "forced to-do" to keep the screen locked until the task is finished.
The "ring again if you fall back asleep" feature rings the alarm again if the phone does not move for a set period of time (10 minutes by default) at home after the alarm is turned off. On iPhones, it sets a backup alarm using Apple AlarmKit and cancels it after the user walks at least 20 steps after the alarm. The feature is off by default, and turning it on requires granting "always allow" location permission.
Place and departure alarms are free. If users set an arrival time for a frequently visited location, the app calculates actual travel time and sets a departure alarm. The number of daily travel-time calculations varies by plan. It also provides a sleep log that estimates when users fell asleep and woke up based on screen status and movement. It is an estimate, not a medical device.
There are three plans. The free version offers alarms, 10 mission types, to-dos and place-based departure alarms. The Pro version costs 5,900 won per month or 49,000 won per year, adding the ring-again feature and the remaining 11 mission types including exercise missions. The Max version costs 12,900 won per month or 108,000 won per year and provides features including weekly artificial intelligence (AI) reports.
Prices are based on domestic app store listings. The app supports Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese (Simplified), and can be downloaded from Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
