Founders building AI tools worry that the next version of a foundation model could turn their products into a single feature. Sequoia Capital partner Julien Bek argues AI service providers should sell “the work” rather than tools. He frames the choice as “copilot” versus “autopilot,” saying models have become smart enough to automate many intelligence tasks. Autopilot, he says, targets larger work budgets and will spread fastest in outsourced work areas.
