Google launches Gemini Enterprise for Legal targeting law firms, heating up legal AI race

Google has released a legal-focused AI product aimed at law firms and in-house legal teams. The company unveiled Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a package combining pre-built Gemini technology with assistant-style agents that connect to firms’ existing data systems. Google said it supports contract review, negotiation, tracking regulatory changes, and searching case records and internal documents. It also said customer data and model outputs are not used to train its foundation models and highlighted partnerships across litigation and contract management tools.

AI app companies build in-house models as push grows; what next for Dokpamo overhaul?

More AI service companies are building in-house models to cope with the cost of using advanced AI models and to compete with large model developers. Legal AI startup Harvey has developed its Tenet model based on Moonshot\'s low-cost open-source Kimi K3. Coding AI Cursor is also accelerating its own model work and has launched its Origin code hosting platform. South Korea plans to revamp support for firms in the Dokpamo project from the third evaluation round.

DeepL adopted as translation engine for Harvey legal AI platform

DeepL said on Wednesday it has been adopted as the document translation engine for legal AI platform Harvey. Harvey provides AI-based legal services to global law firms and corporate legal teams and is used by more than 200,000 lawyers at over 2,400 organisations in 70 countries. Under the collaboration, users can upload documents and translate them into more than 100 languages while preserving structure and legal terminology.
