OpenAI said on Tuesday that South Korean law firm BKL Taepyungyang introduced ChatGPT Enterprise for all employees from Aug. 1.

BKL Taepyungyang plans to use ChatGPT Enterprise and a work-focused feature, ChatGPT Work, for legal research and drafting documents, analysing and summarising large volumes of data, reviewing foreign laws and regulatory materials, and generating ideas.

It aims to reduce repetitive tasks for lawyers and other staff so they can focus on specialised work such as complex judgement and strategy development.

OpenAI explained that ChatGPT Enterprise provides personal data protection, security, user management and administrator controls, making it usable for legal work with high security requirements.

BKL Taepyungyang also introduced the legal AI service Harvey companywide. It will operate a two-track system that uses ChatGPT, a general-purpose generative AI, together with legal-focused AI. OpenAI said Harvey also uses OpenAI models.

Kyung-hoon Kim (김경훈), country head of OpenAI Korea, said, "The legal industry is a representative knowledge industry that simultaneously requires vast knowledge and a high level of specialised judgement." He added, "We will work closely to help BKL Taepyungyang members use ChatGPT Work to reduce repetitive tasks and focus on complex problem-solving and higher-value work for clients."
