KOSPI closes at record high of 7,844
South Korea\'s KOSPI opened lower on Tuesday but turned higher during the session and ended in the 7,800s, setting a record closing high. The benchmark rose 200.86 points, or 2.63 percent, to 7,844.01. Foreign investors net sold 3.72 trillion won as the dollar-won rate climbed to the 1,490 won range, while individuals and institutions bought. Auto and chip shares led gains.

Hyundai Motor unveils body-on-frame EV battery patent for next mid-size pickup
Hyundai Motor has disclosed a patent for a body-on-frame battery mounting structure for electric vehicles as it steps up preparations to target North America’s mid-size electric pickup market. The design integrates the battery within the frame to secure ground clearance while lowering the centre of gravity and improving protection in off-road conditions. The patent also addresses minimising cabin-space loss. Hyundai has signalled plans for a body-on-frame pickup and highlighted related off-road concepts.

Global \'supply chain diet\' gains traction as firms target cost cuts, risk diversification
Seven in 10 global companies plan to restructure their supply chains within five years as prolonged trade wars and recession concerns fuel a push to cut costs and diversify risk. A Conference Board survey shows 71 percent of U.S. CEOs and 77 percent of European CEOs plan changes within three to five years. Apple has shifted production toward India and Vietnam while keeping China for non-U.S. sales. South Korean groups are also adjusting production footprints.
