Apple effectively scraps low-cost Vision Pro as Samsung Display halts panel development
Apple has been reported to have put the brakes on development of an extended reality device it had been considering as a lower-cost follow-up to the Vision Pro. Samsung Display has halted development of the G-VR panel that was to be used in the cheaper XR device, according to NineToFiveMac. The move adds to indications that Apple is shifting the centre of its next wearable push toward AI smart glasses, though Apple executives have said the Vision Pro remains part of its long-term spatial computing vision.

New iOS, Android app launches jump 104 percent despite AI replacing apps talk
New app releases on Apple’s App Store and Google Play rose 60 percent year on year in the first quarter of 2026, according to Appfigures data cited by Gigazine. Growth was stronger on iOS, up 80 percent. As of April 2026, combined iOS and Android launches were up 104 percent, while iOS was up 89 percent. The trend runs counter to predictions that AI would shrink the app ecosystem by replacing apps with chatbots and agents.

Apple executives voice confidence in MacBook Neo, cite past flops
Apple executives said the MacBook Neo has received a positive early response a month after its launch, while also citing past failures such as the first MacBook Air released in 2008 and Apple Maps at launch.
