Gartner warns firms without AI talent strategy risk losing half of key staff by 2027
Gartner said on May 13 that by 2027, half of companies without a comprehensive AI talent strategy will lose key AI staff to rivals. It said talent will gravitate to employers that prioritise workforce capability building over simple AI adoption. Gartner’s survey found limited strategic readiness among executives. It urged companies to measure value beyond time saved, improve enterprise AI tool experience to curb shadow AI, broaden AI benefits beyond managers, and address job-replacement anxiety through communication.

Gartner research vice president Paul Delory warned companies that leave may end up with more complex and less efficient infrastructure. He said there is no technical reason to choose rival hypervisors and no one-to-one replacement for VMware Cloud Foundation.
