Apple\'s \'Duo\' is not the first as company makes choice shaped by Microsoft\'s failure

Apple’s first foldable iPhone, unveiled on Sept. 9 local time and named iPhone Duo, is the second foldable smartphone to use the “Duo” name after Microsoft’s Surface Duo. Microsoft avoided a flexible folding screen by linking two 5.6-inch OLED panels, but software problems and other shortcomings hurt the product and it was discontinued. Apple is moving early on developer support and app compatibility ahead of an October full-compatibility rollout.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 draws 1.6 times more iOS switchers in all-out push for iPhone users

Samsung Electronics is stepping up efforts to attract iPhone users as Apple launches its first foldable iPhone. Samsung said the share of iOS users switching to its Galaxy Z Fold8 series rose 1.6 times from the prior model. It also highlighted U.S. buyers moving from other brands and promoted design, multitasking and large-screen use. Samsung upgraded Smart Switch to simplify wireless data transfers via QR code scanning.

From iPhone Duo to AirPods 5: Apple event round-up

Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, and announced new devices including the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, AirPods 5, Apple Watch 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. The iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch display, starts at $1,999 and goes on sale in October. Apple highlighted foldable-focused features, upgrades to cameras, performance and battery life in the iPhone 18 Pro line, and outlined iOS 27 and Siri AI changes.
