Kakao Group to set up \'Kakao AI Sail\' with four science and technology institutes, using 50 billion won fund
Kakao Group will set up a new body, dubbed \'Kakao AI Sail\', with four national science and technology institutes to foster regional artificial intelligence talent and companies. The group signed an MOU in Daejeon on Monday with KAIST, GIST, DGIST and UNIST in the presence of Science and ICT Minister Bae Kyung-hoon. The initiative will use a 50 billion won AI development fund announced in September and aims to build AI ecosystems outside the Seoul area and promote industrialisation.

MSIT to gather public opinions on fifth basic plan to foster science and technology talent
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT said on March 8 it will operate an online public feedback platform, \"Science and Technology Talent Voice 5.0,\" to help draw up the fifth basic plan for fostering and supporting science and technology talent for 2026 to 2030. The platform will run from March 9 to 20 and be accessible through ministry and related 기관 websites. The plan is expected to be finalised in the first half of this year.

South Korea to set up 10 AX graduate schools this year with 15 billion won
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT will invest 15 billion won this year to select 10 new AI innovation graduate schools, it said on Feb. 19. The AX graduate schools are intended to cultivate talent that combines expertise in specific fields with AI technology. The ministry aims to pick 22 schools by 2030 and produce at least 820 AX convergence graduates a year. Selected schools can receive up to 30 billion won annually for as long as six years.
