Ryu Je-myeong (류제명), second vice minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, attended the "Physical AI Tech Day" event held at COEX in Seoul on Tuesday and stressed the importance of cooperation among industry, academia and research institutions.

Held under the theme "Intelligence into Action," the event features experts from South Korea and abroad sharing physical AI technology trends and development directions. Keynote speakers include Byeong-gon Jeon, CEO of FriendlyAI, Sangbae Kim, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, and Gyubin Lee, a professor at the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST).

At the venue, Ryu toured major technology exhibits such as AI semiconductors, factory optimisation, and collaborative robots and humanoids. He also checked the potential for applying research and development results to industrial sites.

In his opening remarks, Ryu said physical AI is a core technology of the major AI shift that creates new products and services. He stressed the need for close cooperation among industry, academia and research institutions, saying it cannot be completed by any single technology or company.

He also said he would actively support industrial application and wider adoption so that strong technologies do not remain in research and development but lead to on-site verification and commercialisation.
