Dell unveils two rugged laptops for industrial sites rated IP66 and 1.8-metre drop

Dell Technologies on Oct. 19 introduced two new rugged laptops for industrial and public safety sites, the Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme and Dell Pro Rugged 14, and said both are already on sale this month. Both use Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors with up to 50 TOPS NPU performance. The 13-inch full-rugged model is rated IP66 and tested for 1.8-metre drops, while the 14-inch semi-rugged model is rated IP53 and tested for 0.91-metre drops.

WiCi prepares WiFi 7 wireless eGPU with RTX 5060 Ti

Wireless computing company WiCi is preparing a WiFi 7-connected wireless external GPU device, WiCi One. The product houses a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and 16GB GDDR7 memory in a separate box and connects wirelessly to a host device. It also includes a processor, storage, power, cooling and networking parts. WiCi said its protocol reduces network traffic and claimed 4K gaming performance, with tests conducted about 50 cm from a connected laptop.

China shows signs of allowing purchases of Nvidia\'s new RTX Pro 5500 chip; can it skirt U.S. export curbs

China’s government is seen moving toward allowing domestic sales of Nvidia’s new workstation chip, the RTX Pro 5500. Some in the industry believe the product may not fall under U.S. export restrictions on China, Cryptopolitan reported. Two people familiar with the matter said some executives view it as outside the scope of U.S. limits, though the information was not independently verified. Nvidia has publicly criticised U.S. export controls.
