NIPA steps up support for Korean SaaS firms expanding into Japan
South Korea\'s Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency will launch a Level 3 program to support small and mid-sized Korean software-as-a-service companies entering Japan as part of the 2026 Global SaaS Marketplace Support project. The three-month program will run from September to November, linking Fukuoka and Tokyo. NIPA said participating firms have been selected and demand sourcing is under way. Business consultations and networking events are planned in October.

SKT strengthens Chuseok holiday benefits for roaming, travel and dining
SK Telecom said on Tuesday it will enhance benefits for the Chuseok holiday, including increased baro roaming data and dining and cultural perks. Its Family Roaming service lets up to five family members share roaming data if a representative baro plan customer pays an additional 3,000 won per month. SKT will also expand data allowances for the baro plan through year-end. T Membership offers discounts in Japan and Korea.

Japan National Police Agency pushes to introduce wearable cameras for frontline officers
Japan is moving ahead with plans to introduce wearable cameras for frontline police officers to record work on scene. The National Police Agency said a pilot confirmed the cameras\' usefulness, including for verifying the appropriateness of actions after the fact and for use in training and investigative evidence. Trials were conducted in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Aichi, Niigata and Kochi. Officers were mostly positive, while public reactions were mixed.
