Nintendo unveils \'Yoshi and the Mysterious Book\' with adventure elements and visual overhaul
Nintendo is introducing a new Yoshi title, \'Yoshi and the Mysterious Book\', that keeps the series’ accessibility while adding adventure elements and updated graphics. The game shifts from a simple side-scrolling platform format to an exploration- and puzzle-focused adventure, with a watercolor, storybook visual style. Gameplay retains signature moves and adds a tail-flick mechanic. It also adopts a non-linear progression structure and customization. The game is on pre-order for Switch 2 and is due out on May 21.

Game companies move into hybrid casual segment
Hybrid casual games are emerging as a new growth engine in the mobile market as hyper casual titles face saturation and weaker profitability. The format keeps simple controls but adds collection, RPG and storyline elements, while combining in-app ads and in-app purchases. AppMagic data show in-app purchase revenue rose sharply over a year. In South Korea, Supercent posted hit titles and won an export award, while NCSoft and KRAFTON unit Neptune expand in the segment.
