Global AI market shifts toward price competition as U.S. firms step up cuts

Major U.S. AI companies are accelerating price cuts as part of efforts to check Chinese rivals, speeding a global shift toward price competition. The Financial Times reported OpenAI cut prices for GPT-5.6 Luna by up to 80 percent and reduced Terra by 20 percent, while Anthropic priced Opus5 at about half of Fable5. Data cited by the FT showed customer costs have fallen sharply since mid-July. Some reports said usage and revenue rose after the cuts.
