South Korea FTC begins pre-merger review of Uber-Delivery Hero deal
South Korea\'s Fair Trade Commission has begun a pre-merger review of Uber Technologies\' planned acquisition of all shares in Germany\'s Delivery Hero. The regulator will examine whether service linkages such as memberships and advertising and promotions across taxi-hailing and delivery could affect market competition, as Uber would gain control of food delivery app Baedal Minjok. Uber plans to complete the tender offer subscription in November and close the share acquisition in the second half of 2027.

Dunamu steps up fair trade compliance, expands leader-led compliance management
Dunamu, the operator of digital asset exchange Upbit, is strengthening its fair trade compliance programme and moving to establish a compliance management system led by on-site leaders. The company said it held a declaration ceremony on Sept. 3 at Incheon Nest Hotel. Executives and employees, including CEO Oh Kyung-seok (오경석), reviewed ethical and compliance awareness and agreed to follow key guidelines on fair trade, contacts with competitors and user protection.

SK Innovation to absorb SKIET in merger to block battery business risks
SK Innovation will absorb battery separator subsidiary SKIET through a small-scale merger after SKIET posted a 211.4 billion won net loss last year. The company said unstable finances at the disappearing company could disrupt separator supply and lead to production disruptions at battery unit SK On. The merger ratio is 1 to 0.1174540, and new shares to be issued total 4,481,300. The merger date is Jan. 1, 2027.
