Bitcoin gains momentum after U.S. Treasury expands long-dated bond buybacks

Bitcoin extended gains after the U.S. Treasury announced an expansion of long-dated bond buybacks, breaking above its 200-day moving average for the first time since November 2025. Barchart highlighted the move, which is seen as a sign that months of weakness may be easing. The Treasury said it will roughly double buybacks, lifting purchases from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation from Sept. 9. Bitcoin has risen more than 13% since the announcement.
