Hangzhou opens vocational school for humanoid robots with job qualification exams
China\'s Hangzhou has opened a vocational school for humanoid robots and is building a system requiring qualification tests before deployment in factories and service sites. The first cohort includes 30 humanoid robots that will receive practical training and must pass certification exams. Courses are tailored to each robot\'s hardware. The school was founded with Zhejiang University\'s robotics institute and industrial partners and operates as part of a national embodied AI pilot base.

DeepSeek invests in Unitree to co-develop AI models for humanoid robots
Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has invested 140.8 million yuan ($20.8 million) in robot maker Unitree and agreed to jointly develop AI models for humanoid robots, Reuters reported on Aug. 6. DeepSeek received 933,399 shares, or a 2.31 percent stake, from a strategic allotment ahead of Unitree’s Shanghai IPO, the report said. The tie-up focuses on building robot “brains” that can understand unfamiliar environments and reliably translate instructions into physical actions.

Alibaba affiliate Amap upgrades ABot integrated AI linking robots\' brain, hands and feet
Alibaba Group Holding\'s mapping unit Amap has unveiled an upgraded version of ABot, an AI framework that integrates robot mobility, manipulation, reasoning and control into a single system. Amap described ABot as linking a robot\'s feet, hands, brain and nervous system. It said ABot combines five foundation models, including ABot-N1 for autonomous navigation and ABot-M0.5 for combined movement and manipulation. Amap claimed top-tier results on 17 benchmarks without providing details.
