First signs of quantum attack may look like ordinary wallet breach, analysis warns

An analysis warned that even if quantum computers become powerful enough to break today’s cryptography, the first signs in crypto markets may not be a high-profile theft such as Satoshi Nakamoto’s bitcoin. It said early attacks could resemble ordinary wallet compromises, with little or no forensic trail. Experts cited risks to stablecoin issuer keys and exchange hot wallets. Estimates vary on timing, but the industry is moving toward post-quantum signatures.

XRP Ledger signals v3.3.0 upgrade targeting tokenisation demand, including five new features

XRP Ledger is preparing a major protocol upgrade aimed at boosting use of tokenised assets and institutional finance. The xrpld 3.3.0 node software is due this week and includes five new features focusing on privacy, payment efficiency and lowering onboarding barriers. RippleX product head Reece Cooper said the new functions will activate only after validator approval through the network’s governance process.

IBM, University of Chicago complete verifiable quantum computation with 70 logical qubits

IBM and researchers at the University of Chicago said they completed a verifiable quantum computation using 70 logical qubits, a task difficult for classical computers. The team applied a new error-correction approach and finished the calculation in about 15 minutes. The work also offers a way to verify results, a long-standing hurdle in demonstrating quantum advantage. Researchers said the logical error rate fell to about one-tenth of the physical error rate.
