Microsoft uses AI to patch record number of security flaws

Microsoft patched 570 security vulnerabilities across major product lines including Windows and Office in a single release. TechCrunch reported the company said the update was its largest-ever security patch, after using AI to expand detection of code weaknesses. The fixes were released as part of the monthly Patch Tuesday package. At least two vulnerabilities were classified as zero-days and had been exploited before Microsoft became aware of them.

Makinarocks expands defence AI business with AWS partnership

Makinarocks said on Monday it will cooperate with Amazon Web Services to expand its defence AI business. The company plans to develop AI technology tailored to defence environments using AWS cloud infrastructure and security technology, including designing high-availability, low-latency architecture for operational settings. Makinarocks said it will retain ownership of defence data and core algorithm development, while AWS secures cloud infrastructure and Makinarocks secures data and applications.

Taiwan passes new crypto law, sets regulatory framework for stablecoins and exchanges

Taiwan has passed a new law covering the full scope of cryptocurrency services and introduced a licensing system for stablecoin issuance. The Virtual Asset Service Act expands oversight beyond anti-money laundering to broader business operations and market order. It classifies providers into seven categories and sets requirements for governance, internal controls and cybersecurity. It also tightens exchange listing rules and imposes stricter penalties for market manipulation and fraud.
